Thirty days ago we shared the news that Porter Novelli had acquired Voce Communications, and since then we’ve been successfully executing our integration plan, winning business, and yes, hiring a talented mix of marketers, journalists and developers that will help us shape and define this next stage of our company.
In keeping with this momentum, today we’re sharing the news that Christopher Barger will be joining Voce as Senior Vice President and spearheading our global social media services and client programs. This is a critical role for our company as we continue to work with multi-national brands on their digital initiatives, and I’m fired up to have someone with Christopher’s insight, perspective and experience leading our global efforts and working side-by-side with what I consider to be one of the most salty and seasoned team of consultants and developers you’ll find.
Christopher was previously the director of global social media for General Motors, leading a wide variety of initiatives over the last 4+ years ranging from content development and community management for the Fast Lane blog and other GM properties, to internal online training, governance and crisis comms efforts to offline advocacy work through events like SxSW, BlogHer and CES. Prior to joining GM, Christopher managed social media initiatives and corporate communications for IBM where he lead some of the company’s earliest efforts around influencer marketing, podcasting and blogging.
Christopher’s currently working on a new book with McGraw Hill that’s culled from his years of experience architecting programs for global companies, which let’s face it, should bring some healthy perspective and balance to the social media book scene.
Welcome to the Voce Nation Christopher, glad to have you with us.
